Introduction of glycerin:Soluble in water and alcohol, insoluble in ether, benzene, chloroform and carbon disulfide, and easily absorbs moisture in the air. Has a warm and sweet smell. Can absorb moisture from the air, as well as hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen cyanide and sulfur dioxide. Neutral to litmus. If placed at a low temperature of 0°C for a long time, it can cause combustion and explosion when encountering strong oxidants such as chromium trioxide, potassium chlorate and potassium permanganate. It can be mixed with water and ethanol at will. 1 part of this product can be dissolved in 11 parts of ethyl acetate and about 500 parts of ether. It is insoluble in chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, petroleum ether and oils. The median lethal dose (rat, oral) is >20ml/kg. Irritating.
Uses of glycerol: gas chromatography stationary phase. Boron complexing agent. Used as solvent, lubricant, cosmetic preparation and pharmaceutical industry.
