Ferrous sulfate is a kind of inorganic material, chemical formula for FeSO4, the appearance of white powder without smell. Its crystalline hydrate at room temperature for the seven hydrates, commonly known as "green alum", light green crystals, weathering in dry air, surface oxidation into brown alkaline ferrous sulfate in moist air, at 56.6 ºC to become tetrahydrate, at 65 ºC to become a hydrate. Ferrous sulfate is soluble in water and almost insoluble in ethanol. Its aqueous solution oxidizes slowly in air when cold and more rapidly when hot. Addition of alkali or exposure to light can accelerate its oxidation. Relative density (d15) 1.897. irritating. Ferrous sulfate can be used as a reagent for chromatographic analysis, spot analysis for the determination of platinum, nitrite and nitrate. Ferrous sulfate can also be used as a reducing agent, manufacture of ferrite, water purification, polymerization catalysts, photographic plate making.
Iron deficiency symptoms:
1. young leaves lack green, old leaves remain normal.
2. Leaf flesh turns yellow, leaf veins are still green, showing reticulate leaf veins.
3. In severe cases, the whole leaf withers, whitens or falls off.
4. Fruit trees and ornamental plants are easy to lose green on calcareous soil in the north.
Dosage.
(1) Foliar spraying: Dilute 800-1200 times with water and spray evenly on foliage, spray 2-3 times consecutively, each time with an interval of 7-10 days.
(2) Soil base application or follow-up application: 1000-3000g/mu for general crops, mixed with organic fertilizer and applied together.
(3) injection method: fruit trees can be used at a concentration of 0.1% (i.e., diluted 1000 times liquid) ferrous sulfate 10 ml, insert the injection needle into the trunk, and then hang the infusion bottle on the tree, so that the tree slowly absorbed, this method is fast and effective, 3 days after the effect can be seen.
(4) direct application of iron fertilizer is easy to be converted into high iron compounds and failure, thus ferrous sulfate as a base fertilizer can be mixed with 10-20 times the organic fertilizer applied after the effect is good. Foliar spraying 0.2%-0.5% ferrous sulfate water solution is better than basal application. The safe dosage of ferrous sulfate is 0.2-0.3%.
Uses: Agricultural grade
1. It can regulate soil acidity and alkalinity, promote the formation of chlorophyll (also known as iron fertilizer), and prevent and control the yellowing disease of flowers and trees caused by iron deficiency. It is an indispensable element for acid-loving flowers and trees, especially iron trees.
2. It can also be used as pesticide to prevent and control wheat scab, apple and pear scab, and fruit tree rot; it can also be used as fertilizer to remove moss and lichen from tree trunks.
