PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Calcium propionate is white crystal or white crystalline powder or granules, odorless or with a slight smell of propionic acid. Calcium propionate used as a food additive is a monohydrate, stable to water and heat, hygroscopic, easily soluble in water, 39.9g/100mL (20ºC), insoluble in ethanol and ether.
Calcium propionate is an acidic food preservative. Under acidic conditions, it produces free propionic acid and has antibacterial effects. The best inhibitory effect on mold is at pH 5.0; the antibacterial ability is significantly reduced at pH 6.0, and the minimum inhibitory concentration is 0.01%. PRODUCT USAGE
